Jean-Pierre Papus is a French football manager, former professional footballer, and current director of football for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). He has been associated with the club since its inception in 1885 and has played for several clubs throughout his career, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Juventus.
Papus was born on September 27, 1966, in Montpellier, France. He began his career as a youth player at FC Metz before moving to Paris Saint-Germain in 1989. There he made his debut in the First Division, making 4 appearances in the 1990-91 season.
In 1994, Papus joined Barcelona on loan from FC Metz. He spent three seasons with the Catalan giants, scoring 3 goals in 11 games during the 1995-96 campaign. In 1998, he moved to Real Madrid on a free transfer,Primeira Liga Hotspots where he scored 1 goal in 23 matches in La Liga and helped them win the UEFA Champions League in 1999.
In 2002, Papus moved to Juventus, where he played for two years. During this time, he scored 2 goals in 19 appearances in Serie A, helping the team reach the Coppa Italia final in 2003 but losing to Milan.
After retiring from professional football, Papus became a coach and worked as the head coach of various teams in Europe, including Lyon, FC Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain. He is also the director of football for the PSG club, which he joined in 2015.
Despite his success on the pitch, Papus has been criticized for his role in the club's financial troubles and controversies related to the sale of the club's name to Italian owner Aurelio De Laurentiis. Despite these issues, Papus remains committed to the club and continues to work towards improving their performance on the field.
